Problem: CDs keep jumping and skipping

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: Check for dirt and dust on the CD. CDs aren't that strong, so only clean them with a soft cloth.

Problem: CDs keep jumping an skipping but they aren't dirty and they are in good condition. Also, the CD player often can't start and shows an error message when I put a CD in.

Solution 1: Could be a number of problems but it sounds like a misaligned CD read head. You can fix this yourself (Google "Fix misaligned CD read head") but it will invalidate your warranty, so only do it if it's out of warranty and you are aware of the risks of damaging your CD player by opening it up.

Problem: CDs keep getting scratched after I play them

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: Sounds like something is scratching them in the CD bay. If you can see inside, try to see or feel for anything sharp that might be doing this. BE CAREFUL! Don't cut yourself doing this!

Problem: CD error!

Solution 1: Not much to go on here! Try checking that the CD is spinning smoothly and that the central spinning mechanism is spinning straight.

Problem: My CDX2 is about 7 years old and plays magnificently. Recently, a significant electricity surge due to lightning took out our electricity and the CD player wouldn't play when power was restored. After advice on how to reset the player which had somehow changed the output terminal, all was well. A further power outage resulted in no sound from the player but after switching it off for half an hour or so it played satisfactorily again. Another short outage yesterday resulted in no sound again even though the disc rotates and sound was again restored by switching the CD player off for a while. My question is - is this normal and should I just turn the player off when not in use as a precaution or has some damage been done to the player from the first major power spike?
