Solution 1:
Check for dirt and dust on the CD. CDs aren't that strong, so only clean them with a soft cloth. 0 out of 0 people found this solution helpful.
Problem: CDs keep jumping an skipping but they aren't dirty and they are in good condition. Also, the CD player often can't start and shows an error message when I put a CD in.

Could be a number of problems but it sounds like a misaligned CD read head. You can fix this yourself (Google "Fix misaligned CD read head") but it will invalidate your warranty, so only do it if it's out of warranty and you are aware of the risks of damaging your CD player by opening it up. 0 out of 0 people found this solution helpful.

Problem: TASCAM CD-200. After playing a CD for a few minutes (or sometimes just a few seconds) the playback stops, the display goes blank and then returns to the "WELCOME" screen. Dave M.
Problem: Seems to play the cd too slow with pitch variations as if motor dragging. Using pitch control speeds it up but have not found happy medium for all cd's.
If you have a problem and the CD player is under a year old, contact your retailer to arrange a repair or replacement. Under the Sale of Goods Act, you should be covered for at least a year and maybe longer.
Ensure you check faults with a range of CDs - you want to be sure the player (and not the CD) has a fault before you do anything drastic.
